Pet Astrology for Libra Pets

Just for fun... predictions for your birthday pets this month.

Dogs must be aware that Libra is the perfect sign for them. The Libra dog is lucky indeed, able to perfectly balance a ball on his nose while maintaining that all important ratio between eating, sleeping and... well eating and sleeping, with a smidgen of playing thrown in the keep the human exercised.

Libra pups should concentrate this month on long leisurely walks... soon it will be time to curl up by the fire and refuse to go out in the snow. Libra dogs are challenged at the end of the month by Halloween... too many black cats, too much candy... woooooooooo, my belly.

Libra cats know that there is no balance in the world and the scales are merely an amusing plaything. While the dogs are out walking, Libra cats plan for their Halloween, practicing arching their backs and hissing.

If your Libra cat seems particularly sensitive this month, placate them with mackerel. This is very important. Lots and lots of mackerel... no really, listen to that little kitty voice in your head.

Do not challenge your Libra cat this month. It is after all their birthday month, they are preparing for a major cat holiday and they just need that excuse for an extra hiss.

Libra cats insist that the month is composed of 1) the most important birthday in the family and 2) 30 un-birthdays. It is suggested that you supply a gift each day to maintain peace in the household. Catnip, a new collar, warm beds for winter, yarn balls, and of course mackerel are all appreciated.

Jewelry to Remember a Departed Pet

The loss of a pet, for those of us who love them, is truly the loss of a family member. Remembrances of that very special friendship can be a comfort, whether a snapshot, a painting or a unique piece of jewelry.

I recently discovered a couple of small jewelry craftsmen who make very touching animal jewelry. Their jewelry is amazing at capturing the personalities of particular animals, from shy to sprightly, or even mischievous. In addition to having jewelry in the form of many breeds of dog and cat, as well as charming mutt and alley cat pieces, they can incorporate fur or ashes from your pet right in the jewelry, making a one of a kind remembrance.

So whether you have lost an animal companion or you know someone who is bereaved, check out this exceptional way to memorialize your love of a pet. Click here to view some of this exceptional jewelry.

These pieces can be an exceptionally thoughtful gift for the pet lover who has suffered a loss, or as a comfort for yourself.

My sympathies for all those who have lost pets... as the wheel turns in the great scheme of things such loses are inevitable, but we all hold the hope of an eventual joyous reunion.

Gimme those Old Time Jewelry Designs

Why aren't more jewelry designers looking to the past? OK, I grant you, there are some stunning contemporary designs out there and I know that talented designers like to express their creativity and individuality... but that said, as a consumer I would really like to be able to purchase more jewelry based on designs from the past. It would be great if we could have another Egyptian or Renaissance revival in jewelry like those of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

There is some limited amount of Egyptian design jewelry, but overall the quality is not that good... and, well, Egyptian is a bit of a cliche. I would love to see some Roman jewelry re-creations... and perhaps Greek, Mayan, ancient Chinese and Japanese, Russian... oh, and especially Scythian. There are so many opportunities out there for jewelers to produce new and exciting jewelry based on these ancient themes -- it seems to me that they are missing the boat.

What is your opinion? Do you think there should be more reproduction jewelry, or would you rather see designers devote their talents to new designs? Oh, and if you have a line on some great reproduction jewelry, won't you please let me know at animaljewelry@andarta.com?

Does your dog listen when you whisper?

I've not been a fan of the animal "whispers" as a rule... but I love Cesar Millan. If you haven't seen his show on the National Geographic Channel, check it out.

This guy really understands dogs... and dog people. It's wonderful to see the animals change before your eyes because of the change in their owners' attitudes. Cesar understands dog body language and, more importantly, has the ability to transmit this knowledge to other people.

I trained horses professionally for many years and I can tell you Cesar is the real thing. Handling aggressive dogs is the same as handling stallions... or dare I say it, your boss. I think, if you watch this show with an open mind and expanded attitude you'll learn a lot about personal relationships too.

Get more info about Cesar Millan at the National Geographic.

Of course, if you love dogs you'll love dog jewelry -- check out some of the best here.
